Hi. I'm Myles. 27.

Tim Drake is my hero. The Doctor is my mentor. I'm a pop culture junkie. I love comics, film, video games, books, and music. I devour it all!!!

Final Fantasy VIII is not only my favorite game, but one of my favorite stories period.

Oh, yeah. And I'm here to save the world.

DC Women Kicking Ass: Okay, who has the Robin fetish at DC Comics?

dcwomenkickingass:

From the usually reliable folks at Bleeding Cool comes news of a book which seems to ready made for for me to rage and mock about at the same time. If it is…

OK. First, I love Stephanie Brown. I do. I’ve loved her since her first appearance. I’ve rooted for, or ‘shipped,’ her and Tim Drake since I was a ten year old boy (seriously). I fully accept her as one of the Robins. It was an absolute delight, despite forever being a Tim fan, to see her in costume as an ‘official’ part of the Bat-Family.

Was she ever really Robin? YES. 100% Did she really get the chance to be Robin? For me, that’s a bit murkier, only because her tenure was so very sort. I know that doesn’t quite make sense. I mean, I feel she didn’t get the opportunity to make being the 4th canonical Robin her own. She was Robin, but we weren’t allowed to get to know her as Robin like we did Batgirl. Steph took that mantle and made it uniquely her own.

However, I do contend with a lot of my fellow Tumblweeds on Bruce’s motives for hiring here on. I absolutely believe it was the notion of the Bat-Teams to use her to goad Tim. Tim saw through it. BABS really saw through it. And, poor Steph, half the time she was around when people were calling him out on it. As for how deep and how thought out those motives were, I can’t really argue right now. It’s been a very long time since I’ve read those issues so I cannot pour a ton of precise analysis at the moment.

The idea that Bruce wouldn’t endanger his city and put someone in the costume he didn’t believe in is a very valid contention, and to a large degree, I think, a correct one. That said, Bruce was not being very well written at this point (and where a lot of the “Batman is a dick” mentality was coming back through) on a consistent basis. Additionally, I do feel he believed in her enough to give her a shot as a vigilante, but with what was happening with Tim, the motivation to make her Robin crept out. I’m not saying I like this, but I am saying that this is how I’ve always felt what was being portrayed and the reactions of a number of signifiant characters seem to validate my belief in that.

As for this Robins title. I love the idea. I’m so stoked for it if its true. Would I like to see Steph? Hell, yes. However, with the timeline of what happened when in terms of the Robins being all fucked up thanks to the New 52 and absolutely no mention of where she is post-Flashpoint, I don’t see it being likely. Now, this could be an opportunity to answer that, which would be awesome. So I guess we’ll wait and see. Thankfully, Grant Morrison is still using her!

I’m not a fan of Stephanie Brown, but she was a Robin. It’s a fact not an opinion, how can you try to deny that?
